4x4" Bolt Pattern Wheels (4x101.6mm)
4x4" and 4x101.6mm are one pattern in two units. It is the British Motor Corporation's small car pattern, which is why it shows up on everything from a Mini to a Morris Minor.
Cars we fit on 4x4":
- BMC Mini 1959-2000
- BMC Moke 1965-1993
- Austin-Healey Sprite MK1 "Bugeye" 1958-1961
- Austin-Healey Sprite MK2, MK3, MK4
- MG Midget MK1 to MK4 1961-1979
- MG Midget MK3 1966-1974
- Morris Minor 1956-1971
- Nash Metropolitan 1953-1961
- Hillman Imp 1963-1976
- Jensen-Healey 1972-1976
Everything we make on 4x4" is listed below. Small cars have small arches, so if you are going up a size, call Alex at 866-855-3473 first.
1.6mm from 4x100, and that matters
This is the closest call in classic wheels. A 4x101.6mm circle is 1.6mm bigger than a 4x100mm one, which puts each stud under a millimeter out. A 4x100 wheel will go on and the nuts will tighten.
What it will not do is center. The wheel ends up held by whichever studs it happens to bind on, and nuts that are loaded unevenly work loose. If a listing says a 4x100 wheel "fits Mini," check what it means.
Ten, twelve or thirteen inches
Minis left the factory on 10" wheels and later cars on 12". Sprites and Midgets run 13", the Morris Minor 14". The bolt pattern does not change between them, but brake size does: a disc-braked Mini will not clear every 10" wheel. Check which brakes your car has before you choose a diameter.
Arch clearance on small cars
There is not much room inside the wheel arch of a Midget or a Mini. Going wider means either more offset or a fender flare, and the wrong choice shows up as a tire on the arch lip over the first bump. We list each wheel with its offset so you can compare it against what is on the car now.
Wire wheel Sprites and Midgets
Some Sprites and Midgets were built with wire wheels on splined hubs. Those cars have no studs to bolt a 4x4" wheel onto. You need disc wheel hubs first. Measure, or send us a photo of the hub, if you are not sure which you have.
Should I verify my bolt pattern before ordering?
Yes, always verify your bolt pattern before placing an order. Vintage and classic cars can have unique or uncommon bolt patterns, and specifications sometimes varied between model years or production runs. If you're ever unsure about your fitment, the team at VTO Wheels is happy to help. Reach out at sales@vtowheels.com or call 1 (866) 855-3473.
Mini, Midget or Minor, Alex has fitted it before. Call 866-855-3473 and tell him the year and the brakes.
