4x100 Bolt Pattern Wheels for Classic Cars
4x100 is a metric pattern from the start. You will sometimes see it written 4x3.94", but that is only a conversion, and nobody measures a 4x100 hub in inches.
It is everywhere on modern small cars, which makes shopping for a classic on 4x100 strangely hard. Plenty of wheels match the studs. Very few are built for an older car. These are the classics we fit:
- BMW 2002 1966-1977
- BMW 1602 1966-1977
- BMW 1802 1966-1974
- BMW 1502 1966-1977
- BMW 1800 1964-1971
- Mazda Miata NA and NB 1990-2005
Our 4x100 range is below. If you want a second opinion on size before you buy, Alex is at 866-855-3473.
Why a modern 4x100 wheel is the wrong wheel
Most 4x100 wheels on the market are made for front-wheel-drive hatchbacks. They bolt on to a 2002, but they are designed around a different offset, a different hub bore and a different tire size. The usual result is a wheel that sits too far inside the arch or rubs on full lock.
Our 4x100 wheels are sized and offset for the cars listed above, which is the whole reason to buy them from us rather than off the shelf.
Hub bore: BMW and Miata are not the same
The BMW 02 series and the Miata share a bolt pattern but not a hub. Their center bores differ, so a wheel bored for one is either loose or will not go on the other. A loose bore can be taken up with a hub-centric ring. A tight one cannot be fixed at home.
Check the hub bore filter in the listing against your car's page before you order.
Close patterns that are not 4x100
Three patterns sit within 5mm of this one: 4x95.25mm on early Triumphs, 4x98mm on classic Fiats, and 4x101.6mm on the Mini and MG Midget. None of them will seat properly on a 4x100 hub, even though all of them will look right in a photo.
Lug bolts, not lug nuts, on the BMW
The 02 series holds its wheels on with bolts that thread into the hub, where the Miata uses nuts on studs. Either way, the seat on the bolt or nut has to match the seat machined into the wheel. Ask us which hardware goes with the wheel you pick.
Should I verify my bolt pattern before ordering?
Yes, always verify your bolt pattern before placing an order. Vintage and classic cars can have unique or uncommon bolt patterns, and specifications sometimes varied between model years or production runs.
