4x4.25" Bolt Pattern Wheels (4x108mm)
4x4.25" and 4x108mm are the same pattern. It came out of Ford of Britain and spread from there, which is how a Sunbeam Tiger, a Capri and a Fox body Mustang all ended up on the same hub spacing.
Cars we fit on 4x4.25":
- Sunbeam Tiger 1964-1968
- Sunbeam Alpine 1959-1968
- Ford Cortina MK1 1962-1966
- Ford Capri 1968-1986
- Mercury Capri 1970-1975
- Ford Mustang II 1974-1978
- Ford Mustang Fox body 1979-1993, four-lug
Our 4x4.25" wheels are below. Tiger owners in particular tend to have questions about width, and Alex is happy to answer them at 866-855-3473.
The Tiger kept the Alpine pattern
Rootes put a Ford V8 in the Alpine to make the Tiger and did not change the hubs, so both cars share 4x4.25". That makes the Tiger one of the few V8 cars on a four-lug pattern, and it means wheels are often chosen for a car making a lot more power than the pattern was drawn for. Choose a wheel rated for the car, not just one that fits it.
4x108 is not 4x4.5
The nearest common pattern is 4x4.5", 6.3mm larger across the circle, or a little over 3mm at each stud. That is enough to see with a tape measure, but Sunbeams have been modified for sixty years and some are running hubs from other cars. Measure yours rather than going by the year.
The Fox body went five-lug in 1994
Fox body Mustangs ran 4x108mm from 1979 through 1993, apart from the 1993 Cobra, which got five lugs. Everything from 1994 on is 5x4.5". If someone has swapped the axles on your car, it may not match the year on the title.
Should I verify my bolt pattern before ordering?
Yes, always verify your bolt pattern before placing an order. Vintage and classic cars can have unique or uncommon bolt patterns, and specifications sometimes varied between model years or production runs.
